Saving And Repurposing A Beautiful Greeting Card

Saving and Repurposing a Beautiful Greeting Card

Yesterday, I attended a birthday brunch with a group of friends, and as is usual with our group of friends, there are so many good ideas and insightful conversations that are enjoyed by all of us.  Often there is a creative catalyst for my own thinking that evolves from these occasions.

When it came time for our celebrant to open her gifts we were all excited to share the moment, and of course anticipated her reaction to our gift selection for her. We are the type of ladies who focus on the details, not only of the gift itself, but even more significantly, the card.  In that vein, I was particularly enamored  by one of the cards.  As our friend explained, the card was originally given to her many years ago by her now deceased mother.  Our friend further added that she had adored not only the design of the card, but evenmore its message. She had saved the card for a very long time.

What she did was so extremely special, it actually brought tears to my eyes.  She presented the front of the card that her mother had given her, kept the message from her mother and put that back in her treasure box (or so I like to think), and then wrote her personal message on the back of the card cover to the birthday honoree.  This idea was so special and reflected the warmth and closeness between these two friends.

I have saved so many cards over the years, and now I am going to emulate this wonderful idea of repurposing my greeting cards for the special people in my life.
