"On Your Own"
The importance of spending part of your life “on your own “cannot be over-emphasized in cultivating your resiliency. First, “on your own “does not mean alone, quite the contrary! I rather think of “on your own “as being on your own terms. You can do what you want, with whom you want and when you want, “on your own. ” There is great freedom in living your life “on your own.”
“On your own” you can travel anywhere you choose, realizing your dreams to discover more about the world, others and yourself. You will perhaps be even more open to these experiences without a travel companion with you as you will not be as insular as you would naturally be with a partner.
Dining “on your own” at home or at a restaurant is an opportunity for self-care and exploration of new flavorful foods. If you are at home, try putting as much effort into your dinner party for one as you do for company. Set a beautiful table, create a delicious menu, savor every bite. If dining out, perhaps find a seat at the bar (so common to do these days) and enjoy talking to the bartender and others around you while you dine or simply solo indulge in some tasty food! Any way is your way!!!
Whatever you desire to pursue in your “on your own” life is limited only by your imagination from golf to gardening, and anything at all can be done. You can also make plans for group activities, one- on- one activities, family or friend activities; nothing is off-limits “on your own.”
Knowing that you are never, ever alone because your best friend, namely you, is always with you, is the most joyful aspect of living life “on your own!” Remember “on your own” is not you alone, it is manifesting the healthiest possible you: self-sufficient, independent, peaceful and resilient.
