Musing About Creativity
A few weeks ago, my second book , Uphill Towards The Sun was published.
Writing and publishing a book such as this that is composed of poems, paintings and prose is a manifestation of the term “labor of love.” After a very long time of carefully preparing and now sharing this offering, I have decided to gently create awareness about the book rather than a large scale let ’em know, that is also a very common and acceptable path. Over time, I hope to do readings and other related events. For me, it feels right not to rush, and to let things unfold organically. I am immensely touched and grateful for the uplifting feedback and support the book is receiving, (and hopefully, you will get your copy if you have not already).
The book release has got me thinking about how we share our enthusiasm about creative projects and ideas that engross us. The world can sometimes make deeply engaged people feel “too much” because so much of our daily communication is brief, distracted and transactional. However, keep in mind that the qualities that exhibit your enthusiasm and zesty engagement are the ones that make you memorable.
When it comes to creativity the pace of expressing yourself should match your authentic feelings. Sometimes the sharing of ideas is gradual and other times sharing bursts from the seams! Neither is wrong. Most important is staying true to yourself; your creativity and thoughts are vulnerable expressions that take bravery and passion to share. Align with your own timing, trust your instincts, and move forward in whatever way feels right to you in each circumstance.
