Go for the Gold Creatively
First I researched what sort of gold paint would best withstand the constant sun at my front doors, and also the variable and sometimes fierce stormy- weather we experience in South Carolina. Once I determined the gold spray paint I wanted to use, I removed the wreaths from the front doors and organized a well-ventilated area to spray paint them gold. It took two cans of gold spray paint and several coats to get even and fully- coated wreaths. I would recommend wearing sunglasses or protective eyewear, a hat to protect your hair, and I also wore a mask (of course these days that was easy to come by!). After completing the painting, I let the wreaths dry for several hours in the sunshine and fresh air. Here is a photo:
I am very pleased with the final product that adds an elegant welcome to guests with a golden enhancement of a traditional Southern greeting. I also like the element of repurposing and elevating everyday objects. Hopefully you will be inspired with your own golden ideas in 2022.
