Friendships Are Enhanced by Resiliency
Friendships anchor us in a world tossed by turbulent storms and terrifying waves of challenges. Not at all the casual, occasional or betrayal-bound sort of “friendships” that exist for situational or seasonal interludes, I am referring to the friendships whether new or lifelong that align with your soul. These unique friendships are based on unconditional affection. As the lyrics of the song, That’s What Friends Are For proclaim, “in good times, in bad times, I’ll be in on your side forever more” sort of friendships are the ones that are foundational as we live our lives.
Sometimes, people who have been hurt badly by individuals who they believed were in their group of foundational friendships have a difficult time believing that there are actually true-hearted people in the world who unconditionally care about them. Rather than letting a new friendship have a chance to grow, they run away from forming a connection that could be so beautiful for them to experience. Resiliency can help us to open up to new friendships because we realize how limiting our lives will remain if we stay closed off. If you are feeling suspicious or reticent to believe in sincerely- intentioned people, remember that you grew wiser and stronger because of the disappointments. The resilient person learns from their experiences to be more discerning but not closed off from living and growing.
Our world, rocked by astounding assaults human against human, has never been more in need of the foundational friendships that unconditionally care about our well-being and lighten our days by sharing laughter and joy with us. Your resiliency fostered by experience will guide you, so never deprive yourself of the chance to embrace friendship that could change your life for the better.
