What is resiliency and why is a resilient person a warrior?
These are some of the questions, along with stories, thought-provoking insights, and encouragement that will be offered in this space. The hope is to support your own journey of resiliency as you face the challenges and events of your life.
Resiliency is a tool in your survival tool-box that needs to be sharpened and maintained as you navigate the course of your life. The strength to do so takes the courage of a warrior!
One of the ways I have sharpened my resiliency tool is by honoring the process of adaptability. When I am at a crossroad, and often not of my own choosing but because life just changes whether I like it or not, I must adapt to a new way of living. For instance, a death or a divorce forces one to adapt to a new way of living.
I think sometimes we want to adapt quickly or we jump into something as a way of avoiding the work of adapting to change or to get an instant rush of relief. As frustrating and painful as adapting to a new a way of living is, the process cannot be rushed. It is a long and winding road, not a straight path in adapting to change.
Learning to honor the process and the steps forward and backward you will take to adapt to the changes that occur in your life will strengthen your resiliency tool.
“Adapting to change as you go, is how you grow.”
